BIO-key International(R) to Address Mobile Authentication in the Cloud at Mobile Computing Summit 2011

WALL, N.J., June 27, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BIO-key International, Inc. (OTCBB:BKYI), a global leader in finger biometric identification technology solutions, today announced that Jim Sullivan, Director of Sales, BIO-key International, will be an instructor and panelist at the Mobile Computing Summit to be held June 28-30 at the Hyatt Regency, San Francisco Airport.

Jim Sullivan's lecture, "Proving Yourself in the Cloud–Biometrics Killer App," will be presented during Session (3); Platform Security, on Tuesday, June 28th at 1:40pm PDT. Mr. Sullivan will review the drivers which make mobile computing and biometrics a favorable match and will show examples of strong, yet simple fingerprint authentication in the cloud using iPhone™ (IOS) and Windows Mobile™ devices.  The organizers of the Platform Security session are Rich Fetik, Data Confidential and Kieran Norton of Deloitte. The Chairperson is Dean Coclin, from Symantec.

Other topics and panelists presenting during the session include: "Threats on Android," Zheng Bu, Director Security Research McAfee Labs; "Securing Mobile Access to Cloud APIs using OAuth," Paul Madsen, Senior Technology Architect, Ping Identity; "Securing iPads in the Enterprise," John Herrema, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy, Good Technology; "Secure Mobile Computing on USB," Jack Sebbag, VP Sales North America, MXI Security.

"Moving data and applications to the cloud is critical to support access from a variety of devices, and biometric authentication is a simple yet secure way to control your identity in the cloud," stated Jim Sullivan. "People take a gamble whenever they allow their phone to serve as the authenticator for sensitive application access. The prevailing assumption, that your phone is always with you, is true–except when it's not. Loss, theft, and, increasingly, sharing of these powerful devices with friends and family exposes the flaw in this logic, requiring a second factor. No one wants to type a robust password, complete with special characters, into a touchscreen. This makes mobile authentication biometrics' killer app," added Sullivan.
