Motricity Appoints Chief Marketing Officer

Former Intermec Technologies and Microsoft Executive Brings Decades of Experience to Mobile Advertising, Marketing and Analytics Company


BELLEVUE, Wash., July 18, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Motricity (Nasdaq:MOTR) today announced it has named John O'Rourke as its Chief Marketing Officer. In his role, O'Rourke will lead all aspects of marketing, including branding, public relations, events, digital media and channel marketing.

O'Rourke comes to Motricity from Intermec Technologies, where he served as the vice president of global marketing since 2009. In this role he was responsible for leading all marketing efforts in the areas of product management, branding, public relations, advertising, events, web and digital media, lead-generation, channel marketing and leadership development.

Prior to joining Intermec, O'Rourke spent more than 15 years at Microsoft, holding a wide range of marketing and leadership roles including General Manager of Windows Mobile. In this role he led a team of product managers, product planners, industry analysts and developer evangelists who were focused on the adoption and commercialization of the Windows Mobile operating system among OEMs, mobile operators, ISVs and developers (2006-2009). O'Rourke also held the position of Senior Director for Consumer Strategy, responsible for shaping Microsoft's go-to-market strategies (2003-2006). In addition, O'Rourke was a Senior Director of Marketing for Xbox where he led the global launch of the first generation device. Prior to his work with Xbox, he was the Director of Marketing for the Learning, Entertainment, and Productivity Division of Microsoft, Group Product Manager for Microsoft Office and Product Manager for Microsoft Works.

O'Rourke holds a bachelor of arts in business and a masters in business administration from the University of Washington.
