DTS Enhances Consumers' Experiences With High-Performance Audio Technology in First Tablet Phone by Pantech

Newly Launched Pantech Vega Mobile Devices Deliver 3-D Sound to Users With DTS and Dual Speakers

CALABASAS, Calif., Aug. 10, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI), a leader in high-definition audio, today announced that Pantech integrated DTS' high-performance audio technologies into two Pantech Vega products, including the Vega No. 5 tablet phone (model IM-T100K) and Vega Racer smartphone (models IM-A760S, IM-A770K and IM-A780L). The Vega No. 5 is the first tablet phone to incorporate DTS technology, bringing a more immersive and dramatic sound experience to consumers' mobile devices.

As more and more consumers view content on mobile devices, it's becoming increasingly important for manufacturers to equally address both audio and visual components. Currently the fastest smartphone on the market, Vega Racer, features Qualcomm's first 1.5GHz dual core processor—offering speeds up to 30 percent faster than single core—and 1GB DDR2 RAM. Additionally, the Vega No. 5 tablet phone features a 5.0 Wide Video Graphics Array (WVGA) and the Vega Racer boasts a 4.3 WVGA; both devices include dual-mode smart LCDs for a more natural viewing experience. Unlike most mobile phones with a mono speaker, the Vega Racer features dual speakers plus DTS audio technology to deliver superior sound quality with more depth and dimensionality to users.

"Coming off the heels of several recent technology integrations with mobile manufacturers including LG and Huawei, DTS is proud to continue its rapid penetration in the mobile space and now tablet market by partnering with one of Korea's largest mobile phone manufacturers," said Brian Towne, executive vice president and chief operating officer at DTS. "As technology continues to evolve consumers demand the best from their mobile devices, and this recent integration is further proof that we're committed to providing high-performance audio to all users, regardless of platform."

Jea Yoo, DTS vice president and managing director, Korea, added, "The Vega series products offer consumers a feature-rich combination of DTS' high-performance audio, Pantech's high quality products, and Qualcomm's processing speed. With these powerful technologies working in conjunction, consumers can easily stream content from their phones and enjoy uncompromising sound."

Launched in July 2011, the Pantech Vega tablet phone and smartphone devices with integrated DTS high-performance technology are currently available in Korea.
