BURLINGTON, VT--(Marketwire - Aug 18, 2011) - Seventh Generation, the nation's number one Green Brand and market leader of non-toxic and renewable household solutions, has announced that consumer products branding expert Joey Bergstein will be joining the sustainable fold in September as the company's new Chief Marketing Officer.
Bergstein comes to Seventh Generation from Diageo, the world's leading premium spirits company, where he was Senior Vice President of Global Rum and over the last five years nearly doubled sales while growing Captain Morgan from a U.S. product into a global brand with a strong international presence. Prior to his work at Diageo, Bergstein was Vice President at Canadian brewer Molson, a role which initially included responsibility for global business development and led to oversight of Marketing for English Canada. He began his career at Procter & Gamble with a ten-year arc that saw him assume various key marketing leadership positions in the U.S., Canada, U.K., and France.
"Joey brings all kinds of unique abilities to our table," says Seventh Generation CEO John Replogle. "He's extremely passionate about his work, and incredibly creative when it comes to establishing a brand vision and finding the best approaches to fulfill it. He's also a compassionate leader who naturally brings out the best in people. At Diageo, he was a trailblazer who developed strong innovation and supply groups, and engineered an agenda that resulted in exceptional product value. I like to say he builds people, teams and brands, and that's exactly what our company needs at this moment in its history."
Bergstein himself believes Seventh Generation is a great match as well. "I love working in a collaborative environment," he says. "And I think that the company has a great team in place and a brand with tremendous untapped potential. What's missing are innovative brand strategies and new marketing programs that will drive the kind of exponential growth its products are more than capable of achieving. But this is about more than that for me -- working for a purpose-driven company is hugely important to me. It's a chance to make a real difference in the world, and I think that's the thing that most excites me about the days ahead."
