Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Wins $2.8 Million Satellite Earth Station Equipment Order for a Latin American End User

MELVILLE, N.Y., Aug. 23, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comtech Telecommunications Corp. (Nasdaq:CMTL) announced today that its Tempe, Arizona-based subsidiary, Comtech EF Data Corp., was recently awarded a $2.8 million order for satellite earth station equipment from a systems integrator to support a Comtech EF Data Vipersat-powered network in Latin America.

The order included the supply of CDM-570L-IP satellite modems, the CDD-564L IP demodulators, the Vipersat Management System and RF products including LPOD Block Up Converters and HPOD High-Power Amplifiers.

A Vipersat-powered network integrates Comtech EF Data's advanced modems with a powerful network management tool, the Vipersat Management System (VMS) which provides dynamic Single Carrier per Channel (dSCPC) bandwidth management of the space segment. When integrated with the CDM-570L-IP Satellite Modems and the CDD-564L IP Demodulators, the dSCPC technology automatically establishes the high-speed IP SCPC carrier when a remote has an application to transport over the satellite link.

Fred Kornberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Comtech Telecommunications Corp., commented on the order, "We are pleased to receive this large order which we believe demonstrates the demand for Comtech's products which were selected based on our ability to facilitate bandwidth-efficient satellite transport."
