(ISC)2(R) Announces Availability of Computer-Based Testing for Gold Standard CISSP(R) Certification in Portuguese and Spanish

SSCP(R) Also Available via CBT in Portuguese

PALM HARBOR, FL--(Marketwire - Sep 15, 2011) - (ISC)²® ("ISC-squared"), the world's largest information security professional body and administrators of the CISSP, announced at its Certification Clinic today in São Paulo, Brazil the availability of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for its Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential in Portuguese and Spanish and its Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) credential in Portuguese. Beginning on October 1, 2011, candidates can take the CISSP and SSCP exams at any of 24 PearsonVUE Professional or Select testing centers throughout Latin America. PearsonVUE is (ISC)²'s computer-based test delivery provider and is the global leader in computerbased testing for information technology, academic, government and professional testing programs.

In April 2010, (ISC)² began delivering its Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP®) exam via computer-based testing, with a plan to transition all of its credentials gradually through 2012. Since that time, the Certified Authorization Professional (CAP®) credential has also made the transition from paper-and-pencil delivery. The 2011 (ISC)² Global Information Security Workforce Study projects that the information security workforce is expected to grow from 2.28 million information security professionals worldwide today to 4.2 million by 2015. (ISC)²'s move to CBT aims to meet the professional development needs of this rapidly growing workforce.

The benefits of (ISC)2 CBT through Pearson VUE include:

  • Enhanced security measures - Pearson VUE testing centers include certified proctors, advanced biometric verification to confirm the identity of the exam candidates, video and audio monitoring, encryption of all test packages and results, anomaly detection and other forensic safeguards.
  • A consistent testing environment - The testing experience is exactly the same for each Pearson Professional Center; all facilities are equipped with an identical layout, materials and process to ensure a consistent experience for all candidates that enables a fair and precise evaluation of a candidate's competency.
  • Reduced travel costs - By offering more testing location options, CBT through Pearson VUE reduces the cost of travel and overnight stays for individuals and organizations.
  • Increased convenience - In addition to offering more exam centers around the world, CBT through Pearson VUE also increases the number of exam scheduling opportunities. Upon application approval by (ISC)2 to take the exam, the candidate can schedule an exam online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for any time a testing center is open. Also, candidates will receive notification of their test results immediately after completing the exam.

"We've seen strong interest in our computer-based testing service since launching last year," said W. Hord Tipton, CISSP-ISSEP, CAP, CISA, executive director of (ISC)². "Latin America is a relatively new market for us, without an established footprint for exams. The availability of computer-based testing for the CISSP in Portuguese and Spanish and the SSCP in Portuguese, driven by the demands of the local markets and culture, as well as the diverse geographical spread of the candidates, marks another important milestone for (ISC)² as we continue to expand our programs to serve the rapidly evolving professional development needs in Latin America."

The CISSP is ideal for those who want to demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities in understanding, managing and enforcing information security policies and procedures.

The SSCP is ideal for practitioners who implement security policies and procedures and are working toward positions such as network security engineers, security systems analysts, or security administrators. It is also suitable for those in non-security disciplines that require an understanding of security but do not have information security as a primary part of their job description. This large and growing group includes information systems auditors; application programmers; system, network and database administrators; business unit representatives; and systems analysts.
