Grid Loyalty Launches First Free In-Vehicle Safety and Rewards System for Drivers

From Emergency Road Services to Pay-As-You-Drive Insurance Quotes, World's First Technology-Driven Loyalty Program Delivers Free Access to Suite of Intelligent Services

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 15, 2011) - Drivers across North America can now access the benefits of expensive in-vehicle safety systems for free, with the launch of GRID Loyalty, a new program that rewards the way we drive.

Launching today in Los Angeles, CA, Las Vegas, NV, and Portland, OR, this free membership program brings roadside assistance, concierge services, customized location-based offers and access to popular pay-as-you-drive insurance quotes to consumers owning a vehicle manufactured in 1996 or later.

"With GRID, drivers get premium in-vehicle safety and concierge services for free," said John Reynolds, President of Grid Loyalty Group Inc. "These services and safety features are finally accessible to anyone who owns a car. Plus, pay-as-you-drive insurance quotes and customized location-based promotions through a network of loyalty partners that lets drivers leverage technology to save money – while helping to keep loved ones safe on the road."

It is estimated that more than 100 million vehicles on the road today were made in 1996 or later. Only a small portion of that market currently has access to exclusive in-car safety programs through their vehicle manufacturer. GRID Loyalty will target that vast market by offering a full suite of intelligent services.

Just plug it in and drive away.

To become a member of GRID Loyalty, drivers simply need to install a small "GRID Chip," a device that plugs into a car's on-board computer.

Using a GPS beacon and transmitter (exactly like the one in cell phones), the GRID Chip reads the condition of the vehicle as it takes to the road. Then, it generates driving reports, tells members if their car needs service – and if something goes wrong, can direct drivers to the nearest service partner. It's safe, it's simple and it's secure.

GRID's free standard in-vehicle safety and security package includes one emergency road service call per year as well as a number of additional concierge services. Members have access to standard driving reports for free and can look for ways to save money, or help their teens improve their driving. Upgraded packages are also available.

Members collect GRID Miles that can be redeemed for discounts and promotional offerings from participating local, regional and national partners focused on driving and mobility. Customized location-based promotions (LBS) may be offered to members for vehicle service, maintenance, emergency road services, quick service restaurants, coffee chains, accommodations, entertainment, travel, and select retailers - all tailored to each unique GRID member.

Consumers no longer have to have to 'push that little button' or pay up to $400/year in fees for an in-vehicle system. There are no registration or monthly fees to get on the GRID. To join, members need an email address and cell phone, and a 1996 or newer vehicle. Following on-line registration, they simply plug the GRID chip, a small device with a GPS beacon and transmitter just like the one used in smart phones, into their car's on-board diagnostic, or "OBD." Plug, play – and you're on your way to, Safety / Security / Savings ™.
