Harsco to Support Major Bridge Construction Project in Germany Under New $2 Million Order

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 22, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global industrial solutions company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today a new order worth more than $2 million to supply self-climbing formwork systems and services to a major new bridge construction project in southwestern Germany.

Harsco will support Porr Germany, one of the most renowned construction companies in Germany, in the construction of the High Moselle (Hochmosel) Bridge, an all-new 1.7 kilometer (1 mile) span linking Belgium's metropolitan areas and the Belgian/Dutch shipping ports on the North Sea with the Rhine-Main region in Germany.

Harsco will support the project with its technically advanced self-climbing formwork, a highly flexible and efficient system that will be used to construct the bridge's ten support piers. Harsco's solution is designed to provide a safe and secure working area in combination with a very high load capacity and minimal downtime, enabling the complete geometry of each pier to be constructed with only one platform assembly. A similar Harsco solution is already in place supporting the accelerated construction of the new 3.1 kilometer (2 mile-long) Russky Island Bridge in Vladivostok in Russia, where Harsco is supplying two self-climbing units for the construction of one 321 m pier (1,050 feet) and several 70 m piers (230 feet). That project's schedule calls for completion in time for the 2012 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

"This award clearly demonstrates our technical expertise and our ability to transfer that expertise into a cost-effective construction solution for our clients," said Ivor J. Harrington, Harsco Executive Vice President and Infrastructure Group CEO.
