Presentation Highlights Technology Advances and Dramatic Performance Gains That Make G.hn and G.hnem a Top Choice for Smart Home Networking

WHAT:
2010/2011 saw the finalizing of the home networking specifications G.hn (G.9960, G.9961), G.hnem for SmartGrid and G.hn-mimo (Multiple Input Multiple Output for PLC) as the standards of choice for wired home networking. Technologies based on these are now rapidly moving towards widescale adoption, due to the efforts of the HomeGrid Forum and its members. HomeGrid Forum has now created a robust Compliance & Interoperability Program, with three events planned before the end of the year, laying the groundwork for the first certifications of G.hn products.

WHO:
Chano Gomez, co-chair of HomeGrid Forum's Marketing Working Group and Lantiq's representative on the Board of Directors as well as director of new business development for Lantiq, will set out HomeGrid Forum's aggressive agenda to bring G.hn products for effective home networking and SmartGrid applications to market.
Chano will speak in the session "Discover Why HEM, Smart Appliances and Consumer Engagement are Integral to SmartGrid Success."

Chano Gomez
Chano Gomez is Director of Business Development at Lantiq North America. Chano has more than 10 years of experience with semiconductor technology for home networking and Smart Grid applications, with a special focus on powerline communications for voice, video and data transmission, an area in which he has co-authored six international patents. Since 2008, Chano has been actively involved in the development of ITU-T standards G.9960 and G.9961 (G.hn). He currently serves as co-chair of the HomeGrid Forum Marketing Working Group, and previously as chair of the HomeGrid Forum G.hn Contributions Working Group. Chano has a Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (Spain).
