U.S. Millionaires Concerned Over International Monetary Problems, Even as Investment Confidence Improves

Spectrem Millionaire Investor Index (SMICI (SM)) Advances 7 Points in November to -6; Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI (SM)) Up 1 Point to -13

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - Nov 30, 2011) - Spectrem Group announced today that its Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI (SM)) rose 7 points in November to -6, its biggest monthly gain since February 2011.

This advance, which follows five consecutive monthly declines and returns the index to neutral territory from mildly bearish, represents the millionaire index's second-largest gain this year, following its February 2011 advance of 15 points.

Meanwhile, the Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI (SM)), which measures the investment confidence and outlook of households with $500,000 or more in investable assets, rose 1 point to -13, remaining mildly bearish.

"Millionaires saw their investment confidence jump in November, following five straight monthly declines, as the broader affluent population demonstrated modest improvement. These advances came, however, as both millionaires and the affluent were highly focused on international problems. This suggests that further bad news from Europe's financial crisis could easily threaten the improved confidence of the wealthiest Americans," said George H. Walper, Jr., President of Spectrem Group.

Additional insights from the indexes are available on the Spectrem's Millionaire Corner website (www.millionairecorner.com). These include:

In response to an open-ended question about the news story most affecting their economic outlook, affluent investors in November cited: international problems (43%); the political environment (18%); unemployment (7%), stock market conditions (6%); the economy (5%), the deficit (4%), and oil and gas prices (1%). Those citing international problems rose from 7% in August 2011, the last time this question was asked, while those citing the political environment fell from 28%.

Millionaires' were equally focused on international problems (43%) but slightly less focused than the affluent on the political environment (16%).
