Keller Rohrback L.L.P. Announces Investigation of Nissin Foods (USA) Co., Inc. and Maruchan, Inc. Regarding Instant Soup Cup Design

SEATTLE, Dec. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Attorney Advertising. Keller Rohrback L.L.P. (www.krclassaction.com) announces that it is investigating claims that Nissin Foods (USA) Co., Inc. and Maruchan, Inc. manufacture instant soup cups that are allegedly dangerous in their design. The containers for Nissin Cup Noodles and Maruchan Instant Lunch are tall, lightweight and have unstable bases that enable the cups to topple easily. The design increases the risk of spilling hot liquid onto consumers, especially children, sometimes causing severe burns.

Children are the most frequent victims of this design flaw, according to a recent NPR news story. Some of the most common cases involve toddlers, who accidentally pull the cup and its contents down on top of themselves. Not only can the hot liquid burn consumers, but the hot noodles can stick to skin, causing deep, painful burns that can leave scars. Some hospitals report seeing this type of injury up to 6 times per week.

If you are concerned about this hazard, or if you or someone you know has experienced a burn from Nissin Cup Noodles or Maruchan Instant Lunch soup, or you would like more information regarding our investigation, please contact paralegal Stephanie Gardner or attorneys Gretchen Obrist or Gretchen Cappio at (800) 776-6044 or via email at consumer@kellerrohrback.com.
