Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies Alarmed by Anti-Semitic Screed Posted on Indo-Canadian Online Paper

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 10, 2012) - Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) deplores the overtly anti-semitic diatribe by Dr. Sawraj Singh posted in The Link, A Vancouver based online paper which labels itself as a "Leading Indo-Canadian Newspaper", and requests a full retraction of the article and an apology to the Jewish community of Vancouver and Canada.

"Titled 'Racism, Capitalism and Zionism are the worst cancers affecting the world', this article - which likens Jews to cancer, is one of the most blatant examples of pure anti-semitic hatred I have seen published in Canada; it certainly would fit right in on a neo-Nazi website and I question the judgment and bias of the editors who posted it," said Avi Benlolo, President and CEO of FSWC. "With statements including, 'The Jews were and still are able to monopolize most of the academic and intellectually demanding positions. It is very interesting to compare the percentage of Jews amongst doctors, attorneys, university professors, and scientists in America to any European country, and even to Canada,' this article should be immediately pulled from the website. Hate is not a Canadian value," he added.
