Round Hill Music and Adage Classics Acquire Publishing Rights to Early Beatles Hits

NEW YORK, NY and LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jan 12, 2012) - Round Hill Music and Adage Classics are pleased to announce they have acquired rights to GIL/GPS, an iconic catalog of music containing six of the most popular songs written and recorded by the Beatles.

Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney in the early 60s, the Beatles songs include: "She Loves You", "I Saw Her Standing There", "Misery", "From Me to You", "There's a Place", and "I Wanna Be Your Man", which was also one of the first hits for The Rolling Stones. The catalog also contains other classic songs including "Come Go with Me" by the Del-Vikings and Gene McDaniel's "100 Pounds of Clay".

Founded in 2011 by Josh Gruss, Round Hill Music is a new, boutique music publisher and creative rights management company that provides a high level of service to its songwriters and acquires iconic music for its catalog. Management at Round Hill Music includes Richard Rowe, former Sony/ATV President, and Neil Gillis, former President, North America & Global Head Creative for S1 Songs America.

Round Hill Music's first acquisition was the Adage V catalog which includes the classics "I Can't Stand The Rain", "Land of a Thousand Dances", "Birdland", "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" and Miles Davis' "In A Silent Way". It has since built a world-class catalog that includes music by Katy Perry, Celine Dion, James Brown, Bon Jovi and many others.

"Our focus at Round Hill Music is to acquire and manage iconic music, and it doesn't get more iconic than the Beatles. We are thrilled to work with the Pincus family and Herb Jordan, and to have these classic songs under our roof," said Josh Gruss, CEO and Founder of Round Hill Music. "Our team will provide the attention, stewardship and a high level of service that wonderful music like this deserves."

"This is a landmark acquisition for our companies and the industry," said Herb Jordan, CEO of Adage Classics. "Working from the historic Brill Building, Leonard and Irwin Pincus assembled a collection of iconic songs. We look forward to working with Round Hill Music and GIL Music to not only preserve the heritage of these songs but also bring them new life and energy."

"Although my father was Head of A&R for Decca Records and signed the Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens and others, he was mainly remembered as 'the man that turned down the Beatles'", said Richard Rowe, Partner at Round Hill Music. "To have made the deal with John Branca and Michael Jackson to create Sony/ATV, which included most of the Beatles catalog, and then to have this opportunity to acquire these early major Beatles songs has been two dreams come true."

"The classic nature of these Beatles songs matches perfectly with the focus of our catalogs -- music that will stand the test of time and is culturally relevant past, present and future," said Neil Gillis, President of Round Hill Music. "These songs represent some of the most treasured and earliest creative work of the legendary Lennon/McCartney songwriting partnership and we intend to remain true to this heritage."

The publishing rights of the catalog are being sold by GIL Music and GPS Music which will retain an ownership interest. Round Hill Music will administer the North American rights to the Beatles songs, and the global rights to the rest of the music in the catalog, which includes over 100 classic American and Brit Pop songs from the past five decades. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
