Media Advisory: Engineers, Policy-Makers Tackle Tough Issues

Transit, Highrise Buildings, Manufacturing and More on Conference Agenda


TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 10, 2012) - At the 2012 Ontario Centre for Engineering and Public Policy Conference on Friday May 11, some of the province's top engineers, policy-makers, thought leaders and other professionals will discuss an array of issues crucial to Ontario's prosperity and future.

Among the topics to be addressed are renaissance engineers, falling glass and other challenges of highrise buildings, how to optimize the Toronto transit network, and the future of manufacturing in Ontario. Speakers and panellists include Eric Miller, director, University of Toronto Cities Centre; Jim Stanford, CAW economist; and Juan Gomez, director of policy, Toronto Board of Trade. The keynote lunch address, on the Niagara Tunnel project, will be given by Frank Chiarotto, P.Eng., senior vice president, hydro - thermal, at Ontario Power Generation.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Grand Ballroom of the Toronto Marriott Downtown Eaton Centre hotel (lower convention level).
