Spiceworks User Base Grows to 2 Million IT Professionals Spending More Than 300 Million Minutes per Month in Social Network for IT

Time Spent in Spiceworks Jumps Nearly 200 Percent Year Over Year; Network Reaches Almost 30 Percent of SMB IT Professionals Worldwide

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - May 16, 2012) - Spiceworks™, Inc. today announced that its social network for IT professionals has grown to 2 million users, representing nearly 30 percent of all IT Pros at small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) worldwide. By providing SMBs with a professional social network integrated with free IT management software, Spiceworks has built the world's largest community for technology professionals. Together, they spend more than $350 billion a year on tech products and services.

"Whether they're monitoring their networks or helping to answer questions about hardware, software or cloud services, IT professionals and technology vendors are spending more of their workday in Spiceworks," said Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. "It's part of the growing influence that social networks like ours have on connecting business buyers with the technology brands they need."

Together, the 2 million IT Pros in Spiceworks currently support 68 million workers and manage 116 million computers and devices. Spiceworks provides IT pros with ways to participate in community forums, share knowledge, review and research products and services, and manage their networks. To date, they have created 168,000 different discussion topics and 1.2 million unique IT-related posts, and reviewed more than 9,000 technology products and services.

In addition to its growing user base, Spiceworks has attracted more than 1,000 technology brands that market and interact with IT Pros in the network. They include companies, such as EMC, Intel, Microsoft and VMware, which have their own branded Vendor Pages in Spiceworks that allow IT Pros to stay up-to-date on the products, news and information that interests them.

"Spiceworks provides a direct link to IT buyers at small and mid-sized companies," said Calen Holbrooks, Audience Marketing Manager, Microsoft. "Our interaction with the tens of thousands of followers of our Vendor Page has been invaluable in helping us to successfully serve a market that's very important to our business."

Building a network of IT Pros at small and mid-sized businesses has also enabled Spiceworks to be at the pulse of SMB IT trends. Spiceworks recently released the results of its State of SMB IT survey, which investigates the latest technology purchasing, usage and staffing trends among companies with less than 1,000 employees.
