Mitel Delivers Virtual UCC Solution to Tiger Group

One of the Largest Steel Companies in the Middle East Implements Mitel Cloud Architecture

OTTAWA, May 31, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel® (Nasdaq:MITL), a leading provider of Unified Communications and Collaboration (UCC) software solutions, today announced that UAE-based Tiger Group, one of the largest steel companies in the Middle East, is aiming for the latest cloud architecture by selecting a Mitel virtual solution.

The virtualized unified communications and collaboration (vUCC) solutions will enable the Tiger Group to reduce costs, enhance its business continuity strategies, improve employee productivity and increase flexibility by providing various mobility applications and a singular network to run both voice and data.

Tiger Group has selected Virtual Mitel Communications Director (vMCD) as the backbone of its unified communication solution, to gain a flexible solution that is scalable and intuitive for its growing workforce and business requirements in 13 widely-dispersed locations.

''Tiger Group conducted thorough assessments of a number of communication vendors and Mitel demonstrated the most flexible and efficient solution that could accommodate the anticipated growth and sophistication of the business,'' said Imran, Group IT Manager, Tiger Group.

In the first phase of the deployment, Tiger Steel is rolling out vMCD at its head office and Mitel Communications Director running on Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) at branch offices, providing the ability to network individual offices and remote locations seamlessly. This will enable the implementation of a complete virtualization strategy, with a goal of enhanced data centre virtualization using VMware®.

By deploying vMCD, which leverages VMware vSphere™ 5, the Tiger Group will consolidate voice and data applications onto a single server, aiming to cut server hardware costs, maintenance time for IT staff, reduce operational costs and downtime and maximise business continuity.

"One platform for voice and data, with seamless communication to save cost and improve employee productivity, were the main aspects of our decision to move to a virtualized environment and cloud architecture," explained Imran.

"With our head office supported by vMCD, all 13 branches and remote locations will be implemented in phase two. Our aim in phase two is to merge all applications with voice in the Cloud, hence the selection of vMCD software. This will help us achieve our goal of a centrally-managed infrastructure for data, applications and voice.

"Tiger Group can now improve the information management between all of its disciplines and users, giving it the competitive advantage needed to improve productivity and optimise on IT resources. As Tiger Group continues to grow, Mitel's flexible offerings aim to provide a seamless experience for every employee and the overall business, so Tiger Group can service and address its customers and business requirements at the highest level," concluded Imran.

Mitel's expert channel partner, Group Seven IT Solutions, played a key role in working with Tiger Group to identify areas of infrastructure improvement and user productivity enhancement.

"Tiger Group is a progressive and tech-savvy company, which thrives on new technology frontiers. Adapting new technology and providing added-value to our clients is a key focus and this contract demonstrates our ability to excel in this area," said Pankaj Tripathi, CEO, Group Seven IT Solutions.
