The new division is called AirePointe™, which builds on the company's fifteen years' experience within the enterprise and telecom carrier market for wireless outdoor bridges, and expands LightPointe's footprint into the high growth market which includes military theater of operations connectivity, backhaul of security surveillance video feeds, emergency response wireless infrastructure, failsafe networks and 4G/LTE public safety networks. The new AirePointe division will also serve the needs of municipality, state and federal government agencies requiring secure wireless Gigabit Ethernet building connectivity.

LightPointe Communications' AirePointe division will focus on applications such as port security video backhaul, military wireless connectivity, airport camera infrastructure, transportation monitoring backhaul solutions and government building wireless connectivity. The company also offers a "flyaway kit" for emergency outdoor wireless deployment, which includes everything needed to quickly set up and operate a Free Space Optics, hybrid wireless, or 60/70/80 GHz radio frequency data bridge. Such kits have been deployed by the United States Marine Corp, Army and Air Force.
The announcement of AirePointe coincides with the final day of the Electronic Security Expo ("ESX Nashville") education and networking event for the security and integration monitoring industry, which is owned by the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Electronic Security Association (ESA). ESX is one of the major trade events in the security sector, with leading companies such as Tyco, Honeywell, ADT, Axis, and Bosch participating.
