QASymphony to Sponsor SummerQAmp Contest for Quality Assurance Interns

DUBLIN, Calif., July 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QASymphony (www.qasymphony.com), a developer of software testing tools, today announced that the company is sponsoring a contest for SummerQAmp participants that officially kicks off on August 6. Participants will compete to find defects on public websites and will receive training and a copy of QASymphony's qTrace, a tool for defect capture and recording.

SummerQAmp is a new initiative aimed at creating internships for young adults (ages 18-24) to introduce Quality Assurance (QA) as a potential career path to American youth who are unaware of the opportunity. The program allows the participants to gain valuable work experience as summer interns at software companies.

Developed as a commitment to the White House's Summer Jobs+  initiative, SummerQAmp is being led by Aneesh Chopra, former CTO of the White House, musician Jon Bon Jovi, Steve Martocci, co-founder of GroupMe, and Kevin Haggard, Vice President of Quality Engineering at WhaleShark Media.

With strategic support from CampInteractive (www.campinteractive.org), an organization dedicated to empowering inner city youth, SummerQAmp has secured more than 30 internship placements at top technology companies in its inaugural year.

Based on validated defects, SummerQAmp contest contestants with the highest number of severity defects found and submitted wins. Each validated bug will be prioritized and weighed against the criticality of fixing it.

Contest participants will document and submit defects using the qTrace tool by QASymphony. qTrace is a software defect and reporting tool that records the tester's every movement, screen and system information as the tester navigates through the application annotating notes while testing.

The top winners will receive a free Apple iPad and cash prizes.
