Near Nashville, Tennessee, the plant will produce the all-new Ecotec 4-cynlinder engine. The first product will be the 2.5L engine that will debut in the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.
Renovations began in 2011. The new technology required the removal of approximately 250 million pounds, which was washed, recycled and donated for road and building construction projects in Maury County.
General Motors continues to give back to the local community. This year it has selected six different organizations for the GM Foundation Plant City Grants, including the Maury County Imagination Library, Second Harvest Food Bank, Southern Automotive Women's Forum, Maury County Arts Guild, the James K. Polk Memorial Association and the Tennessee Environmental Council.
