TradeStation Releases "Election Performance" Indicator

Plots Stock Market Performance for Each Presidential Election Cycle Since 1924

PLANTATION, Fla., Sept. 27, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- TradeStation, a Monex Group company (TSE:8698), and an award-winning broker-dealer and futures commission merchant, today released an "Election Performance" indicator illustrating the stock market's performance for each four-year presidential election cycle since 1924.

The Election Performance charting indicator is built in EasyLanguage®, the company's proprietary programming language. EasyLanguage® enables TradeStation clients to create custom strategies and indicators for their use in analyzing and trading stocks, ETFs, options, futures and foreign exchange. Developers also create strategies and indicators that clients can access through TradeStation's online trading store, Strategy Network.

"In view of the upcoming election, we thought it would be interesting to examine the stock market's long-term historical performance under various presidential administrations," said Michael Burke, TradeStation's Vice President of Client Training and Education. "TradeStation is an excellent tool for these types of studies, allowing you to create statistical or data-mining projects to measure performance on just about any market idea or concept. We offer a number of pre-built economic data sets – including interest rates, economic indicators and market statistics – that are kept up to date on the TradeStation website."

Drawing on data for the Dow Jones Industrial Index since World War II, the Election Performance 2012 charting indicator shows that the single largest four-year stock market rise occurred from 1993 to 1996 during the first term of President Bill Clinton (D), when the Dow returned a cumulative gain of 95.38%*.

*Past performance, whether actual or indicated by historical tests of strategies, is no guarantee of future performance or success.
