PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 26, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Twelve emerging Canadian technology companies will present innovative health information technology solutions addressing problems of cost and quality of patient care November 28th in Philadelphia. The 4th Annual Canadian-US eHealth Innovation Summit will be held at the University City Science Center at 3711 Market Street in Philadelphia. The goal of this annual event is to connect innovative Canadian eHealth companies with promising U.S. markets.
With both government and private payers emphasizing quality, value, outcomes and cost reduction in healthcare, the eHealth Innovation Summit will offer a forum for hospitals, healthcare professionals and organizations to be introduced to emerging technologies that can support their efforts to achieve these goals. Attendees will learn about, review and evaluate health information technology (HIT) solutions, and engage in dialogue with leaders of successful technology organizations and promising innovation companies from Canada.
An Advisory Board which includes CIOs and executives from major regional hospitals and healthcare insurers in the U.S. including Penn Medicine, Main Line Health, Crozer-Keystone, Aria Health, Barnabas, John Hopkins , Independence Blue Cross, New Jersey Health Care Innovation Center, PA Reach and the Delaware Health Information Exchange, was assembled by the Canadian Consulate General, with the help of the Delaware Valley Healthcare Council, to select the best concepts and solutions submitted by over 60 Canadian companies who competed for the 12 highly selective presentation slots. The Advisory Board will ensure that hospitals and other healthcare providers achieve the maximum benefit and exposure to Canadian HIT companies with the greatest potential to address specific and particular needs of U.S. healthcare providers.
The eHealth Innovation Summit is part of a series of events, sponsored by the Canadian Consulate General, designed to connect Canada's considerable and exportable experience in the field of health information technology with promising business ecosystems in the U.S. The summit, and a planned follow-on accelerator program for select companies, is expected to speed the adoption of innovative solutions that can be implemented in the U.S. and that can support the goals of improved health quality and outcomes, and reduced costs in health delivery and administration.
