ALEXANDRIA, Va., Feb. 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The National Military Family Association achieved the coveted 4-star rating for its 10th consecutive year by Charity Navigator, America's largest and most-utilized independent evaluator of charities. According to Charity Navigator, "Only one percent of the charities we rate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that National Military Family Association outperforms most other charities in America." Nonprofit entities are evaluated based on good governance and other best practices that minimize the chance of unethical activities and consistently executing the mission in a fiscally responsible way.
In making the announcement, Ken Berger, president and chief executive officer of Charity Navigator, noted the National Military Family Association received the prestigious four star rating due to "sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency. The National Military Family Association outperforms most other charities in America and this "exceptional" designation from Charity Navigator differentiates National Military Family Association from its peers and demonstrates to the public it is worthy of their trust."
"We are humbled by this recognition of how we accomplish our mission – advocating for military families," Joyce Wessel Raezer, executive director for the National Military Family Association. "Military families are our Nation's families and it is our duty to protect and serve them, as they do for us on a daily basis. We look forward to continuing our mission in 2013 and encourage all Americans to take part in it with us."
