"Opengear customers can now benefit from the evolution of our product offerings with Eltima's newer virtualized serial port software, robust feature set and intuitive user interface," said Rick Stevenson of Opengear. "Many of Opengear's customers require the ability to open remote serial ports and communicate with remotely connected serial devices."

Opengear's serial device server solutions offer class-leading security and comprehensive connectivity features, enabling a diverse range of virtual serial applications:

  • Securely connect building management, security and industrial control systems and their specialized management software, across the WAN or cellular WWAN.
  • Provide virtualized servers with access to telemetry and communications systems.
  • Bridge retail point-of-sale equipment and check-in systems over local wired or wireless networks.

With the upgrade, Opengear customers will benefit from the new offering with improved User Interface, and increased capabilities, which include:

  • Create any number of virtual RS232, RS422 or RS485 COM ports: Eltima's Serial to Ethernet Connector creates an unlimited number of virtual serial ports, which are easy to install and manage.
  • Complete real ports settings emulation: Virtual ports work exactly like real ones, emulating real serial ports settings, providing strict baud rate emulation and full hardware and software flow control support.
  • Manage all signal lines: Virtual serial ports emulate and support all standard hardware signal lines (DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, RING, ERROR, DCD, etc.).
