GOVERNING Welcomes Back Alan Ehrenhalt as Contributing Editor

Magazine Also Hires Two Additional New Staff Writers

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - Mar 5, 2013) - GOVERNING today announced that former Executive Editor Alan Ehrenhalt has returned to the magazine.

Alan initially joined GOVERNING's editorial leadership team in the magazine's earliest years, and for more than two decades he guided the overall editorial direction, shaping coverage and helping make GOVERNING into the nation's leading publication for state and local leaders. Through his monthly Assessments column, Alan gave voice to the biggest issues and most pressing themes facing the public sector. In 2010, he left to become the director of information at the Pew Center on the States, where he helmed that organization's Stateline news service. Now, in his new role as Contributing Editor, Alan will again bring to GOVERNING his incomparable insights on state and local government, including through the return of Assessments to the magazine and governing.com.

Alan, one of the country's leading urbanists, is also the author of four books. His most recent, The Great Inversion and the Future of the American City, is a clear-eyed, detailed and hopeful forecast for the complex future of America's cities and is now available in paperback from Vintage/ Anchor Books.

Alan joins two other recent additions to the GOVERNING editorial team. Liz Farmer, who previously had worked as a city hall reporter for the Washington Examiner, joined GOVERNING in December as the magazine's new finance writer. And in January, J.B. Wogan was hired as a general assignment feature reporter. He previously had written about state and local government for The Seattle Times and The Sammamish Review; in 2012, he covered the presidential election for PolitiFact.com
