ANCHORAGE, AK--(Marketwire - Mar 12, 2013) - The Alaska injury lawyers at Barber & Banker have long believed that community involvement and making efforts to help those who would benefit from a helping hand are noble and worthy pursuits. The firm has always taken steps to provide help and financial assistance to charities that have needed assistance, and the attorneys at Barber & Banker did so again recently by providing a donation to help fund the 2013 Ski 4 Kids Event that is administered by the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage, or the NSAA.

The firm provided what the NSAA refers to as a grant that was used for the purchase of equipment that included cross country skis, boots and poles that were used by the kids who took part in a day of fun that occurred on February 9, 2013. According to the NSAA, "Funds raised at this event go to support youth skiing in Anchorage through equipment-support of the Municipality of Anchorage's Outreach Ski Program and direct grants to Anchorage schools and programs to purchase ski equipment (skis, boots, poles and bindings)."

The event was held at Kincaid Park in Anchorage and it included events that where kids and their families enjoyed ski races, obstacle courses, a sling-shot lemon-drop biathlon, skijoring and snow-shoeing. The day concluded with a family picnic for everyone who attended the event. While no official statistics have yet been released for the 2013 event, the NSAA has stated that the 2012 event raised more than $15,000 in grants and it attracted more than 450 people.

Barber & Banker is a law firm comprised of Alaska injury attorneys who understand the value of community involvement as well as the importance of children becoming familiar with healthy lifestyles and regular exercise. The attorneys at the firm also understand that skiing equipment carries a cost that is beyond the reach of many area families, and since the NSAA uses all of its grants for the purchase of equipment and none for administrative costs, every effort that is made in this regard directly benefits young people in the area. The firm would like to encourage others to take part in this and other programs in the future.
