VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--(Marketwired - Apr 9, 2013) - The Sandler Center for the Performing Arts has featured world-class musicians including Wynton Marsalis, The Vienna Boys' Choir and Boston Brass, but on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13, the music students of Virginia Beach City Public Schools will take the stage for the first time. Music & Arts, the largest band and orchestra instrument retailer and lesson provider in the country, will sponsor the third annual All-City Music Festival including more than 1,300 local elementary and middle school music students.
"We are thrilled to support such a wonderful performance opportunity for our local music students," said Chris Davis, educational district manager for Music & Arts. "Our belief is that music education supports a child's well-being and development, and this district-wide collaboration will provide invaluable musical knowledge to these budding performers."
Music students from 54 elementary and 14 middle schools auditioned to participate in the festival choirs, bands and orchestras. The All-City Music Festival is free and open to the public, and it will feature five performances throughout the event.
