Y Rousseau Wines Announces First Tannat Varietal Wine And a New Location With Tasting Room

Napa Valley Artisan Winery Today Announced the Release of its First Tannat Wine, a Red Varietal Originally from Gascony, France

Napa, Calif., April 15, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Y Rousseau Wines, a Napa Valley artisan winery, today announced the release of its first Tannat wine, a red varietal originally from Gascony, France. Additionally, owners Yannick and Susan Rousseau are getting ready to release their fifth vintage of Colombard, and they have now moved into their own winemaking facility in Napa. The facility includes a tasting room modeled in the style of the French countryside.

"With our first Tannat, we were uncompromising on flavor and determined to stay true to the terroir," said Yannick Rousseau, owner and winemaker at Y Rousseau. "The result is a tasty, unique wine, well worth a visit to the 'Wine Ghetto'. This first release is a 2011 vintage--it was not the easiest vintage to start with, but it takes a lot more to stop a Gascon!"

Y Rousseau's 2011 Tannat, which is sourced entirely from the Russian River Valley, is named The Musketeer in tribute to D'Artagnan who, like Yannick, was a native of Gascony. The Musketeer displays a deep inky, violet color with an enticing, berry-filled nose. This wine bursts in the mouth with vibrant fruit red currant and cassis coupled with a juicy, red-fruit mouth-feel. Tannat, true to it's name, is well-framed by hearty rich tannins. Because of its incredible concentration, complexity, and subtle, white pepper notes on a long, lingering finish, Tannat is the perfect compliment for dry-aged meats, game and even a good ole American Hamburger.

To accommodate increased production in 2012, Y Rousseau Wines recently moved into their own facility, which is located at 902 Enterprise Way, Suite O in Napa. The newly bonded 2,000 square foot winery space includes a charming tasting room and is open by appointment only. Yannick and Susan will be personally hosting the tastings.

The Rousseaus also launched the Gascon Wine Club in order to preserve the allocation of their early followers. There are three club levels to choose from and plenty of options to customize orders. As a result, Y Rousseau's loyal customers will be able to get their wine allocations easily, and at the best price.

The Musketeer2011 Tannat (135 cases) will be available starting May 6th for $35 per bottle, or $378 per case (a 10% discount). For more information, contact the winery (415-713-4203) or visit the website at www.yrousseauwines.com.
