Labor and Employment Expert Lovita Tandy Rejoins King & Spalding

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - May 28, 2013) - King & Spalding announced today the return of Lovita Tandy as a partner in the firm's Atlanta office. She rejoins the business litigation practice to focus on labor and employment matters.

Tandy previously was a member of the firm's partnership from 2004 to 2010. Most recently she served as an associate professor at John Marshall Law School, where she taught courses in contracts, remedies, transactional drafting and negotiations.

"Lovita's deep knowledge of labor law, especially as it pertains to the National Labor Relations Board, will be invaluable to our clients," said Alan Prince, managing partner of King & Spalding's Atlanta office. "She is a talented lawyer and a respected colleague, and we are delighted to have her back."

Tandy's extensive experience in labor and employment law includes high-level internal investigations, employment-related corporate and executive training, diversity counseling, wage-and-hour compliance and reductions-in-force structuring. She has defended dozens of employment discrimination and retaliation claims involving federal and state anti-discrimination laws, whistleblower laws and the Fair Labor Standards Act, and has represented unionized employers in collective bargaining negotiations, board proceedings and arbitrations. She also has prosecuted and defended multiple trade-secret and restrictive covenant matters.

During her earlier tenure at King & Spalding Tandy served as diversity committee chair. She remains an active supporter of diversity efforts within the legal profession, currently serving as executive director of the Atlanta Legal Diversity Consortium and vice chair of The Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorneys in Law & Business.

Tandy received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her J.D. from Duke School of Law.

Tandy said: "I am tremendously excited to rejoin King & Spalding and look forward to re-engaging with both the firm's impressive clients and our top-notch lawyers."
