Informatica Data Integration Hub Rewrites the Rules for Application Data Integration

First Out-of-the-Box Integration Hub to Bring Publish/Subscribe Advantages to Data Integration

Informatica World, Las Vegas, June 5, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today introduced the Informatica Data Integration Hub (DIH), encompassing a new architectural approach for centrally managing data access and distribution across large and complex application infrastructures.

Informatica DIH is the first out-of-the-box integration hub using the publish/subscribe model in a data integration context. Powered by Informatica Vibe virtual data machine, Informatica DIH enables enterprises to decouple data sources and destinations and as well as leverage logical models to reduce the number of interfaces. The innovative architecture approach reduces on boarding time and complexity by empowering application owners to self-subscribe to a centralized catalogue of published data sets.

Through the use of Informatica DIH, customers are able to:

·         Unlock rapid innovation potential by on-boarding of new applications and technologies through self-service subscriptions to the data integration hub.

·         Reduce integration complexity and maintenance cost by diminishing point-to-point interfaces.

·         Improve business operations and reduce risk by ensuring timely, trusted data is used throughout the enterprise.

Unlocking Data Potential via Publish/Subscribe

Large enterprises frequently grow to have hundreds of point-to-point integrations that are difficult to manage and change. Informatica DIH offers to address this "integration hairball" with a lean, managed platform that:

·         Decouples data sources from destinations via a self-managed persistency layer, so that an application can publish data only once to the hub to support any number of consuming applications.

·         Supports data latency (batch, real-time, or near real-time), volume, format or protocol.

·         Drives data reuse by providing consuming applications with a catalog of published data that can be subscribed to, combined, filtered, transformed and masked according to the consuming application's particular needs.

·         Enables exchange of large data sets across applications.

Reducing Risk Through Centralized Management and Control

Large-scale information environments are fraught with risks ranging from the risk of inaccurate or incomplete data proliferating across applications to the risks of data privacy breaches and noncompliance. Informatica DIH, powered by Vibe, manages these and other risks in a centralized fashion including:

·         Certifying data in motion prior to its publication to help ensure end-user trust in the data.

·         Providing data security and access controls to prevent data from moving unprotected and protect data sets from unauthorized access.

·         Powering visibility into data and integration processes including the ability to track data lineage.

Accelerating Time-to-Market for New Initiatives

Introducing new applications, data types and support for new business processes is intensely challenging and time-consuming in a point-to-point integration environment. In contrast, Informatica DIH accelerates time-to-market through self-service onboarding of applications and data, including:

·         Out-of-the-box connectivity to a broad set of applications.

·         Wizard-based data publishing to the hub.

·         Automatic generation of Informatica PowerCenter workflows.

Availability

The Informatica Data Integration Hub is currently available for Beta customers and will be generally available in the third quarter of 2013.

Supporting Quotes:

·         "Informatica DIH was built with operational efficiency and simplicity in mind, offering an innovative solution for managing integration of data sets across applications," said Ronen Schwartz, vice president and general manager for Emerging Products, Informatica. "The out of the box architecture allows users to reduce the number of point to point interfaces and accelerate time to market for new applications integrations through its self-service on-boarding model."

·         According to Gartner VP Distinguished Analyst, Ted Friedman, "Benefits of a Hub Approach to Data Integration" include:

·         Reduction in the number of data-oriented interfaces

·         Leverage of canonical forms, reuse of business rules for data transformation

·         Opportunity to improve data quality

·         Consolidation of infrastructure for data integration workloads

·         Greater insight into enterprise wide data flow

*Excerpt from Gartner Business Intelligence Submit presentation titled "Advancing Your Data Integration Competency in Support of Analytics" March 2013

·         "Informatica described an architectural hub-and-spoke data integration pattern that one of their customers implemented using PowerCenter, coupled with persistence and other complementary technology," said Stewart Bond, senior consulting analyst, Info-Tech Research Group.  "Informatica is now productizing that pattern in their Data Integration Hub (DIH) solution. The obvious part of the DIH is to tackle the integration hairball. The DIH provides the ability for multiple integration flows to re-use canonical data in a publish/subscribe paradigm, and remove the point-to-point nature of traditional data integration."
