On July 23, 2013, Associates and their children volunteered at Good Neighbors Home Repair in southern Chester County, Pennsylvania to help residents with home repair and clean-up projects. On July 25, 2013, WSFS families visited the Ministry of Caring in New Castle County, Delaware to read to young children and sort clothing donations. Also on July 25, Associates brought their children to the Food Bank of Delaware locations in New Castle and Sussex counties to assemble meals for homebound seniors and to "stock the shelves."

"The idea originated while planning for the 'Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day' and we thought it would be great to launch a program that not only aligns with our corporate mission of service, but also makes it easy for Associates to volunteer alongside their families," said Janis L. Julian, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Strategy. "Over half of our Associates volunteer at organizations of their choice throughout the year, but not all activities are suited for children. By creating 'Take Your Children To The Community Days,' we are teaching the next generation the value of helping others and the impact they can make on our community."

Typically held in April, WSFS scheduled its "Take Your Children To The Community Days" in July to allow for more children to be available to volunteer without missing school or other activities. In its first year, more than 65 Associates and their families participated at one of the organizations.
