While the unemployment rate for veterans has dipped to single digits in 2013, a marked improvement from preceding years, younger veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are having a tougher time finding work. Many of those younger veterans have unique obstacles to overcome. A recent survey by the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that 26% of veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have a service-connected disability. That's nearly double the 14% rate for all veterans.

On Thursday, August 22, 2013, the company participated in the state of California's "Honor a Hero, Hire a Vet" event held at the Costa Mesa Hilton in Costa Mesa. Veterans were encouraged to attend to meet and interview with prospective employers. Additionally, they had the opportunity to obtain benefits, training, and career information.
In addition to participating in veterans job fairs, Morgan Drexen also works with the State of California's Employment Development Department to identify veterans who may be good candidates for the company's available positions.
