CARRBORO, N.C., Dec. 14, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Provence restaurant of Carrboro, N.C., never let's down its patrons – or its community – even during the busiest of times.
For Christmas and New Year's eves, Provence will be featuring Lobster and Foie Gras. In addition, the restaurant will be offering a delectable Lobster Salad, and patrons will have an option to add a Lobster tail to any of the entrees. Classic Foie Gras includes a Foie Gras au Torchon, and a classic Tournedos Rossini.
Within days, as the regional French and Mediterranean restaurant delights diners with holiday-time ambiance and seasonal additions to its lunch and dinner menus, it will be hosting an entertaining fundraiser on behalf of children.
Just five days prior to Christmas Eve, the restaurant will entertain the palates of customers with a spectacular wine tasting to raise dollars to protect children in Carrboro and Chapel Hill from hunger.
"We are starting a new tradition at Provence," said Baptist Knaven, executive chef and co-owner of the iconic food establishment. "Starting on the third Thursday of this month, and continuing on the third Thursday of every month thereafter, we will be hosting a Wine Tasting. We will launch this monthly reception on Dec. 19, with all proceeds from the initial event benefiting our wonderful neighbors 'TABLE.'"
TABLE is the only local nonprofit organization focused exclusively on providing emergency food aid for hungry children in Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
"We're looking forward to our first 'third-Thursday' Wine Tasting," Chef Knaven said. "Provence will be sharing some of our 'heavy hitters,' higher-end Bordeaux wines that are usually only offered by the bottle."
The first Provence third-Thursday Wine Tasting, will be held at the restaurant, 203 West Weaver St. in Carrboro, N.C., on Dec. 19, 5 to 6:30 p.m. The cost of participating in the event is $20.
In October, Provence raised approximately $5,700 for TABLE during a three-hour "Empty Bowls" fundraiser.
