Tech Allies and the University of Oklahoma Hold Mobile App Contest With Focus on Oil & Gas Industry

CINCINNATI, April 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tech Allies and the Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma (OU) teamed up on the weekend of March 1st to hold a two-day, mobile app development contest for the students at the University of Oklahoma. The event, which was held at the University of Oklahoma, challenged students to apply creative thinking, diverse collegial studies, and industry knowledge to develop an innovative mobile app for Oil & Gas companies.

During the event, titled 24 Hours of Mobile Innovation - Oil & Gas, students broke into small diverse teams and were given a twenty four hour period to brainstorm, research, design, develop and present a mobile app to a panel of judges and mentors from sponsoring Oil & Gas companies. Industry specialists from sponsoring companies ConocoPhillips, Love's Travel Stops and Country Stores, Phillips66, Devon Energy, and Tech Allies mentored the students as ideas flowed through their innovative pipelines. Cash prizes were awarded to winning teams as well as invitations. The first and second place teams were invited to present their ideas at Devon Energy and Love's, respectively.

Tech Allies and the University of Oklahoma, both having strong ties in the Oil & Gas industry, felt that the 24 Hours of Mobile Innovation event was a perfect fit for the two organizations to come together and utilize industry ties in Oil & Gas companies to co-innovate for the future of mobility in the industry, the university and in the student body.

The event at OU was one of many 24 Hours of Mobile Innovation events that Tech Allies has co-sponsored with Universities across the nation. The events are part of Tech Allies' overall efforts to better prepare students for a smooth transition from University to job market by promoting collaboration among diverse disciplines and encouraging mentoring by potential employers.
