Spectrem Millionaire, Non-Millionaire Investor Confidence Indices on Divergent Tracks in April

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Apr 29, 2014) - For the first time in a year, the Spectrem Millionaire Investor Confidence Index (SMICI®) and the Spectrem Affluent Investor Confidence Index (SAICI®) were on divergent tracks in April, Spectrem Group announced today. The Millionaire Investor Confidence Index increased 2 points to 11, while the Affluent Investor Confidence Index fell 4 points to 3.

The indices measure the investment confidence of households with more than $500,000 of investable assets and more than $1 million of investable assets, respectively.

The April Millionaire Investor Confidence Index is up 3 points over the same period last year and has posted consecutive gains the past two months. The Affluent Investor Confidence Index has see-sawed each month since July 2013. Year-to-year from April 2013 it is up only 1 point.

"The divergent tracks in the Spectrem indices in April reflect the wavering investment mindset of non-Millionaires," said George H. Walper, Jr., president of Spectrem Group. "Unlike Millionaire investors, who are generally more confident in their financial and economic outlooks, non-Millionaire investors are more on-edge over market fluctuations or global events such as increased tensions in Ukraine as seen this month."
