DENVER, Colo., May 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- via PRWEB - Frontier Airlines today announced the appointment of James "Jimmy" Dempsey as Chief Financial Officer. Dempsey brings more than 17 years of experience in aviation finance.

"Frontier is exceptionally fortunate to be able to attract a CFO of Jimmy's caliber" said David Siegel, CEO of Frontier. "Jimmy comes to Frontier with an exceptional record of success in financial management and leadership, and I am confident he will be a strong financial leader for Frontier as we continue our transition to an ultra-low cost carrier."

Dempsey most recently served as Treasurer for Ryanair, Europe's leading ultra-low cost carrier. In this role, Dempsey played a critical part in financing the airlines growth, managing fuel costs and in reducing operating costs, enabling the airline to grow to 81 million passengers annually. Previously, Dempsey was a Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the world's largest accounting networks. Dempsey has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Dublin and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

"This is a fantastic opportunity to transform and grow Frontier to offer sustainable low fares for customers throughout the United States."

"Jimmy will be a key addition to the new management team at Frontier Airlines. He brings unique qualifications to the role of CFO at Frontier, having gained experience and knowledge of cost containment and financial management for 10 years in, admittedly, one of the world's most successful ULCCs. His leadership will be instrumental in refocusing Frontier into an ultra-low cost airliner that provides maximum value to the customer," said Bill Franke, Chairman of the Board of Frontier and Managing Partner of Indigo Partners, Frontier's controlling shareholder.
