Akerman's Karen Meyer Buesing Becomes First Female Recipient of Prestigious Civil Trial Advocacy Award


TAMPA, Fla., May 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Akerman LLP, a top 100 U.S. law firm serving clients across the Americas, today announced Karen Meyer Buesing, a partner with the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group in Tampa, has been honored with the Michael A. Fogarty Memorial "In the Trenches" Award for Civil Trial Practice from the Hillsborough County Bar Association (HCBA), the first female recipient of the award since it was inaugurated in 1993.

The Michael A. Fogarty Memorial "In the Trenches" Award for Civil Trial Practice is given by the HCBA Trial Lawyers' Section to a lawyer who demonstrates excellence and integrity in civil trial advocacy, as well as ongoing efforts and accomplishments for clients in civil trial court.

The award comes only weeks after Buesing was presented with the Tobias Simon Pro Bono Service Award, Florida's highest pro bono service award, by the Honorable Ricky Polston, Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court, for her long-standing service and efforts on behalf of disadvantaged youth.
 
Board Certified in Labor & Employment Law by The Florida Bar, Buesing has represented management in employment law matters for more than 30 years.
