Barron's: Thinfilm Positioned to be a Winner in the Internet of Things Space

In "Next Industrial Revolution" Barron's sees Thinfilm, Qualcomm, GE, Cisco and others Leading the Way

Oslo, Norway, 13 October 2014 - Thin Film Electronics ASA, ("Thinfilm") (OSE: THIN.OL), a leader in the development and commercialization of printed electronics, was discussed in a new feature article by Barron's titled "Tech Outlook: The Next Industrial Revolution." The piece, written by veteran technology and business writer, Tiernan Ray, focuses on how the Internet of Things (IoT) is changing the way the world works and identifies several companies - including Thinfilm - he believes will play pivotal roles in this burgeoning megatrend.

"The explosion of connected things offers opportunities for technology companies across the spectrum, including chip makers such as Qualcomm (QCOM) and Thin Film Electronics (THIN.Norway), traditional networking firms such as Cisco Systems (CSCO), software vendors such as PTC (PTC) and Splunk (SPLK), and cloud-computing service providers such as Amazon and Salesforce.com (CRM)," says Ray. "Although Amazon, Cisco, Qualcomm, and the like are too big to get any near-term kick from the Internet of things, Splunk, Thin Film, and PTC are highly leveraged to its growth."

Thinfilm's temperature-sensing smart labels were highlighted in the article, and Thinfilm CEO, Dr. Davor Sutija, discussed how the company's technology, products and business model are enabling the firm to successfully penetrate a disposables market potentially worth $100 billion.

In addition to Thinfilm, other firms mentioned in the article as being positioned to capitalize on the growth of IoT include GE, Monsanto, Intel, IBM, Splunk, PTC, Amazon, Qualcomm, Symantec, Cisco, and Salesforce.
