American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) Elects Six New Officers

Officers to Be Installed During 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists


CHICAGO, Oct. 28, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) has elected new officers to its Board of Directors for a one-year term. During the 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists in New Orleans from Nov. 5-8, 2014, six board certified Prosthodontists will be sworn in as officers of the College on Friday, Nov. 7.

Frank J. Tuminelli, DMD, FACP, will be installed as 2014-15 president; Carl F. Driscoll, DMD, FACP, will be installed as president-elect; Susan E. Brackett, DDS, MS, FACP, will be installed as vice president; Julie A. Holloway, DDS, MS, FACP, will be installed as treasurer; and Carol A. Lefebvre, DDS, MS, FACP, will be installed as secretary. John R. Agar, DDS, MA, FACP, will continue as an officer of the College in 2014-15 as the ACP immediate past president.

Dr. Tuminelli is in private practice in Great Neck, New York. He has served as a member of the ACP Board of Directors for 10 years and is an ACP Fellow. Dr. Tuminelli is past president of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He is also the graduate program director for New York Hospital Queens, a member of the Presbyterian Health System. As a member of the ACP Spokespersons Network, Dr. Tuminelli has been interviewed by three publications this year about dental implants, tooth grinding and new materials, as shown in this video.

Dr. Driscoll is a professor and director of the Prosthodontic Residency program at the University of Maryland Dental School. He is past president of the American Board of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Driscoll is chair of the 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists and will join the ACP Spokespersons Network this year.

Dr. Brackett is in private practice in Oklahoma City, Okla. She previously was director of the ACP Public Relations and Communications Division and ACP secretary. Dr. Brackett is a co-author of an award-winning textbook, Fundamentals of Tooth Preparation, and the Fundamentals of Fixed Prosthodontics, third edition. Dr. Brackett is the recipient of the ACP Education Foundation's Highest Honor. Dr. Brackett is featured in ACP's cosmetic dentistry video about dental implants.

Dr. Holloway is professor and head of the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. In addition to serving as treasurer, she is immediate past president of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. She has served as editor of the ACP Board Preparation Study Guide and joins the ACP Spokespersons Network this year.

Dr. Lefebvre is the dean of Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine. She also is a professor in the Oral Rehabilitation and Oral Biology departments in the College of Dental Medicine and the College of Graduate Studies. She has been an ACP member for 30 years and is the former editor-in-chief of The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
