WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2014) - Judicial Watch announced that its president, Tom Fitton, will give testimony at a public hearing on civil forfeiture and deferred prosecution agreements to the New York State Assembly.
Among other matters, the Committee on Codes and the Committee on Judiciary is holding the hearing to address civil forfeiture, "a tool commonly used by law enforcement to prevent those who have committed crimes from financially benefiting from their illegal actions." Also addressed will be the increased use by district attorneys of "deferred prosecution agreements and non-prosecution agreements," a form of settlement agreement through which "prosecution may be deferred or avoided" in exchange for an agreed upon penalty.
