Public Transit Executive in Nova Scotia

KINGS COUNTY, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Feb. 23, 2015) - A week after the transit industry celebrated the unanimous passing of legislation protecting public transit employees in the House of Commons, The Canadian Urban Transit Association's (CUTA) Executive Committee meet in Kings County this week.

"CUTA worked diligently since last May to see Bill S-221 pass" says Michael Roschlau, CUTA President and CEO. "Following such good news it is an added pleasure to be here for this two-day event with transit stakeholders, government representatives and CUTA members to work together, setting the path for a productive 2015" he adds.

The agenda will focus on CUTA's new vision of integrated urban mobility, Transit Vision 2040 - the association's industry vision adopted by dozens of municipalities across Canada, as well as updates from the newly formed Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) - Canada's first not-for-profit research network dedicated to the innovation of transit and public mobility in Canada.

CUTA Chair Daniel Bergeron adds "as we move into an election year, it is very important to reinforce the message that research, innovation, funding and a customer and community focus in transit are the driving forces behind the success of our growing cities" he explains.

Sponsored by Kings Transit Authority Grande West Transportation, the meetings take place at the Old Orchard Inn in Wolfville Nova Scotia and include a tour of Kings Transit Authority as part of the agenda. For more information about CUTA, visit www.cuta.ca.
