ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - April 06, 2015) - Today, Vacation Express celebrates the inaugural flight from Richmond International Airport (RIC) to Cancun International Airport (CUN). This flight is the beginning of weekly, exclusive, nonstop flights to Cancun, Mexico, for travelers vacationing in Cancun's Hotel Zone, Riviera Maya and Cozumel.
"Richmond International Airport enthusiastically welcomes Vacation Express and the return of seasonal nonstop service to Cancun and the Riviera Maya from RIC," said Jon E. Mathiasen, AAE, president and CEO of the Capital Region Airport Commission. "Cancun is the region's top international destination and this route, offered by Vacation Express on-board aircraft operated by Interjet, has a track record of success leading to this year's greatly expanded season."
These weekly flights to Cancun depart mid-morning on Mondays and return on Sunday afternoons, giving travelers the maximum amount of time for a great vacation. All of the exclusive, nonstop flights offered by Vacation Express are available as flight only or included in the all-inclusive vacations that you can find at vacationexpress.com or by contacting your local travel agent.
"Not only are we bringing deals to the Greater Richmond Region," said Kevin Hernandez, Vice President of Sales and Digital Strategy for Vacation Express, "with the affordable fares we provide, we have seen a lot of interest in both our flights and vacation packages from vacationers that live in the Norfolk, Hampton Roads, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Baltimore, Northern Virginia, and D.C. metropolitan areas."
The flights are operated by Interjet on their A320 planes offering roomy seating with comfortable cabin seats and two free checked bags per person, each bag up to 44lbs. Passengers also receive a complimentary bar, inflight movies and music, headsets and a "ladies only" restroom.
"We are excited about our relationship with Vacation Express and our Charters services. In 2014, Interjet carried more passengers to Mexico than any previous year, mobilizing more than 7.8 million travelers into the country, showing that Interjet has extensive experience in the aviation industry," said José Luis Garza, Chief Executive Officer of Interjet. "Both the Superjet100 with a capacity of 93 passengers and the Airbus A-320 with a capacity for 150 passengers, are equipped with the latest technology and extra space between rows, making Interjet the only airline in Mexico to offer the comfort of Superior Coach Class, giving passengers the absolute best travel experience."
The Cancun nonstop flights will continue through the summer until August 3, 2015. These 6-night, all-inclusive packages featuring nonstop flights, accommodations at an all-inclusive resort, local representative and taxes start at $699.*
"Vacation Express has become known for affordable flights and vacation packages, giving travelers the ease of well-timed flights that allow more beach time," said Kevin Hernandez, Vice President of Sales and Digital Strategy.
