Associa Founder John Carona Reads to Second Graders at Northlake Elementary in Celebration of National Library Week

DALLAS, April 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Associa President & CEO John Carona along with General Counsel Paul Reyes took part in the National Library Week kick-off in Richardson ISD at Northlake Elementary School by reading to about 80 second graders Monday morning April 13. The little ones also got a special visit from Associa's mascot, Scout, who gave away signed copies of his books as part of the Associa Supports Kids program.

"This year Associa has been reaching out into the community with a strong message focused on the importance of reading at a young age," says Carona. "We were just as excited as the students to enjoy the fun morning of reading in celebration of National Library Week."

"In addition to it being National Library Week, April is also School Library month," says Northlake Elementary School Librarian Lyndsey Theobald. "It's the perfect opportunity to bring in a special guest to remind the kids just how much fun reading can be."

Story-time was at 8:15 a.m. in the school library at 10059 Ravensway Drive in Lake Highlands. Carona read The Library Dragon, by Carmen Agra Deedy, to the seven and eight-year-olds. After the book-reading, Associa's golden retriever mascot Scout visited the kids and stamped copies of his books with his paw print.

"Seeing the kid's faces when they meet Scout and get books to take home always reminds me how important it is to stay in touch with the community and give back whenever possible," says Reyes. "I'm proud to be a part of a company that realizes the benefits of supporting local schools and neighborhoods."
