Bitglass Pioneers at FS-ISAC in Combating Cybercrime in the Cloud

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - May 7, 2015) - Bitglass, the Total Data Protection company, today announced that it has been named an Affiliate Board Advisor of the Financial Services-Information Sharing and Analysis Center (FS-ISAC), a community of financial organizations working together to combat cybercrime activities. As an Affiliate Board Member, the company will contribute to helping FS-ISAC members navigate the challenges of protecting financial data to ensure personally identifiable information (PII) is secured, moved, stored and kept confidential. As the first Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) to join the FS-ISAC as an Affiliate Board Advisor, Bitglass offers both guidance and security technology to financial institutions as they continue to adopt new technologies such as cloud applications and mobile devices.

There has been an 80 percent increase in financial institution breaches since 2012, and this year is on pace to see double the number of breaches suffered over the previous year. Borderless enterprises, including financial institutions, are more vulnerable to attacks as more and more sensitive data moves beyond the traditional security perimeter via cloud and mobile. The FS-ISAC, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Treasury and the Financial Services Sector Coordinating Council (FSSCC), serves to enhance the ability of the financial services sector to prepare for and respond to cyber and physical threats, vulnerabilities and incidents, and acts as the primary communications channel for the sector.

"FS-ISAC Affiliates are an important part of the cyber-security ecosystem. They help support the mission of the FS-ISAC with their contribution of high-level educational content and knowledge of the cybersecurity issues that face our industry daily," commented Andrew Hoerner, vice president, FS-ISAC.

"As the financial sector continues to adopt new technologies like cloud and mobile, it will undoubtedly experience security and compliance growing pains," said Nat Kausik, CEO, Bitglass. "The ability to collaborate with these organizations through FS-ISAC will ensure a unified front against sophisticated cyber criminals."
