NEW YORK, July 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Associa, the worldwide leader in community management, is a national sponsor of National Night Out (NNO) and this year Associa Supports Kids (ASK) will be part of one of the biggest events nationwide in New York's Central Park hosted by the New York Police Department.
The local crime and drug prevention event will take place at 59th and Central Park West from 4 – 7 p.m. This is an opportunity for residents to spend the evening outside and stop by one of the dozens of vendor booths for contests, prizes, giveaways and more. Associa Mid-Atlantic staff will be on-hand to hand out stuffed toys, temporary tattoos, coloring books, ChildFind ID kits and kids will have the opportunity to meet Scout, the Associa Supports Kids mascot, along with McGruff the Crimedog and officers from the New York Police Department. National Night Out is free and open to the public.
"The police department is expecting close to 8,000 people this year and we're thrilled to be able to promote a drug and violence free community with so many supporters," says Associa Director of Corporate Citizenship Annette Ratliff. "Being a national sponsor, we are involved in close to 100 events nationwide but this one is sure to be one of the biggest we've ever been a part of."
NNO is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Associa Supports Kids is a value-added program for Associa community residents, designed to enhance the neighborhood community experience year-round.
