Teen Choice Awards Honors Claire Wineland

Claire's Place Foundation founder recognized on national stage for making a positive change; support children living with cystic fibrosis by sipping wine and viewing art this Saturday

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Fox Teen Choice Awards 2015 honored Claire Wineland, founder of Claire's Place Foundation, a non-profit organization providing support to children and families affected by cystic fibrosis, for her fight for happiness despite disabilities. Claire was one of eight teens from across the country that were featured on the live show on Sunday, August 16th for their work to make positive change in the world.

Claire stepped on stage during Rachel Platten's hit song, "Fight Song." Along with the seven other teens her images were featured on the mega screen and Claire got to walk the event's "blue" carpet. "It was such an honor to be there, surrounded by some of the most influential voices in Hollywood," said Claire. "I realized that the other seven girls and I have the ability to inspire millions of people our age to go out and follow their passion. The girls and I made ever-lasting friendships and I am constantly reminded at events such as this one that I am so lucky to be a part of a global shift in awareness for young people."

To join Claire in her fight to help children with cystic fibrosis the foundation is hosting an art and wine tasting event, Amaris Art Show and Wine Tasting Soiree, in Los Angeles's Fashion District on August 22nd. The event's featured vineyard is Old Oak Cellars, a beautiful and eco-conscious vineyard located in Pasadena, California. Marani Ultra-Premium Vodka Spirit will create and serve a special "Claire's Place Foundation" cocktail in the cystic fibrosis awareness color purple. And, in addition to the open bar and cuisine, the night will include live music by Nobresil, winner of the 2015 Jazz Ed Magazine Award as Best World Music album, Comedian Peter the Persian, complimentary beauty services by beGlammed, amazing auction and raffle items as well as giveaway goodie bags! All proceeds will benefit Claire's Place Foundation and Miller Children's and Women's Hospital in Long Beach. To purchase tickets, make a donation and view all of the amazing sponsors and contributors please visit the event page.

Recently, Claire's story has been featured on The Dr. Oz Show, CNN, Cosmo, ABC News, and Huffington Post. In early September, Inside Edition will feature an interview with Claire about her experience being in a coma.
