Innovation in Energy Technologies to Highlight SmartGrid Canada Conference

Utility Representatives From Across Canada to Attend Event Being Hosted by PowerStream


VAUGHAN, ON--(Marketwired - September 23, 2015) - In less than two weeks, utility representatives from across Canada will be gathering at the Hilton Toronto/Markham Suites Conference Centre & Spa in Markham to learn about emerging technologies that will reshape the energy future for Canadian consumers.

The SmartGrid Canada Conference being hosted by PowerStream on October 5-7, 2015 is expected to draw like-minded individuals from the utility and technology sectors to discuss the innovative opportunities and trends emerging within the electricity industry. Presentation and discussion topics will include information on grid modernization, smart grids, micro grids, renewables, energy storage and dynamic pricing models. Panel discussions will examine utility operational areas such as resiliency, new outage response, customer demand response programs and consumer research.

The list of conference presenters contains names of individuals representing utilities from Ontario, Canada and the international community including Dr. Il-Keun Song, Vice President of the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) Research Institute, Lawrence Jones, Vice President, International Program for the Edison Electric Institute (EEI), and Herschel Arant, Vice President Engineering Services, Central Georgia EMC.

The conference will also feature exhibits showcasing new offerings from vendors who provide utilities with products and services. A tour of PowerStream's Micro Grid Demonstration Project located at the company's head office in Vaughan will also be made available for interested conference attendees.

Welcoming remarks from Frank Scarpitti, City of Markham Mayor and Vice Chair of PowerStream, as well as Alex Bettencourt, Managing Director of SmartGrid Canada, will kick-off the three-day conference followed by keynote addresses by Juan Macias, President of Schneider Electric Canada, and Brian Bentz, President and CEO of PowerStream.
