SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Sept. 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Carando, the artisans of Classic Italian Meats, teamed with Market Basket grocery stores and professional hockey play-by-play announcer Dave Goucher today in the fight against hunger.

Goucher presented a $1,500 contribution on behalf of Carando to Biddeford Food Pantry, a food shelter focusing on helping the citizens of Biddeford, ME provide food to those in need.
The donation was made as a part of the "Carando Cares" program, an ongoing campaign established in 2013 to support the people who are making a positive difference in New England communities. The program has seen hams delivered to Boston fire stations, an Easter dinner served for the patients at Shriners Hospital for Children-Boston, members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Maine get treated to a baseball game and Christmas dinners served to Springfield firefighters and at the Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield, Mass., among several additional events.
