The Foundation for the Public's Health Appoints Reed V. Tuckson, MD, FACP, to its Board of Trustees


WASHINGTON, Nov. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Foundation for the Public's Health President and CEO Paul Yeghiayan and National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) Executive Director LaMar Hasbrouck, MD, MPH today announced the appointment of Reed V. Tuckson, MD, FACP to the Foundation's Board of Trustees.

Reed V. Tuckson, MD, FACP serves as the Managing Director of Tuckson Health Connections, LLC, a health and medical care consulting firm that promotes optimal health outcomes through an innovative and multi-field integrated approach.

Over his distinguished career that has spanned more than 35 years as a health professional, Dr. Tuckson has served as the Commissioner of Public Health for the District of Columbia; the President of the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science; Senior Vice President for Programs of the March of Dimes Foundation; the Senior Vice President for Professional Standards of the American Medical Association; and the Executive Vice President and Chief of Medical Affairs for UnitedHealth Group.

Dr. Tuckson's other appointments include serving on boards for the Institute of Medicine; American Telemedicine Association; Cell Therapeutics, Inc; LifePoint Health; Inform Genomics, Inc; Acasti Pharma; Alliance for Health Reform; and Society for Medical Administrators. Tuckson is also a member of the National Center for Complimentary and Integrative Health at the National Institute of Health.

Dr. Tuckson has been recognized among the 50 most influential physician executives and top 25 minority executives in healthcare. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Howard University and an MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and is also a graduate of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania's General Internal Medicine Residency and Fellowship Programs.
