H.B. Fuller Receives Energy and Clean Tech Award at the 2015 Tekne Awards

Company Recognized for Its Innovative Liquamelt® Adhesive System

ST. PAUL, Minn., Nov. 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE:FUL) announced today that the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) has named the company a recipient of the 2015 Tekne Award in the Energy and Clean Tech award category. The Tekne Awards honor companies and individuals who have played a significant role in developing new technologies that positively impact the lives and futures of people living around the world.

H.B. Fuller was recognized for its innovative Liquamelt® adhesive system, which enables sustainability and efficiency. Traditional thermoplastic adhesives require a heated tank and hoses for dispensing, whereas Liquamelt is supplied as a liquid material and can be pumped without needing to be melted. This solution provides multiple benefits, including increased safety, sustainability and cost savings for customers. Liquamelt also offers improved operational efficiencies: reduced line downtime needed to remove adhesive build-up, as well as reduced adhesive ordering and shipping. In addition, Liquamelt adhesives contain more than 40 percent bio-renewable raw materials and reduce energy consumption up to 75 percent.

“At H.B. Fuller, taking steps to minimize our impact on the environment is a priority, and enabling our customers to achieve their sustainability goals is paramount. Our Liquamelt system has proven environmental and commercial advantages,” said Hassan Rmaile, vice president and chief technology & innovation officer, H.B. Fuller. “We’re proud to receive a Tekne Award, recognizing our revolutionary system.”

Tekne Awards were presented to 15 of Minnesota’s most influential companies and recognized innovations in education technology, energy, healthcare, software, workforce development, manufacturing, agriculture, cyber security and information technology.

“H.B. Fuller’s Liquamelt adhesive system is a prime example of a solution that can advance sustainability and efficiency in manufacturing,” said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, president and CEO of MHTA. “We applaud H.B. Fuller’s efforts to help their customers reduce their environmental impact.”
