Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra and Choir Performs Inaugural Concert in Los Angeles on December 18, 2015

Performance marks first public appearance of the 190 youth participants from the Cypress Park area of Los Angeles


LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Esperanza Azteca USA, LLC, a network of youth orchestras and choirs that provides young people from low-income families a better quality of life through music, announced today that its Esperanza Azteca Youth Orchestra and Choir will perform an inaugural concert on December 18, 2015, at 8:00 pm PT at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex in Los Angeles, California. The youth orchestra is a joint effort between Grupo Salinas and its Fundacion Azteca, The Andrew Nikou Foundation, OpenGate Capital, the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Unified School District, Beyond the Bell and community partners.

Esperanza Azteca Orchestra Los Angeles is comprised of 190 youth participants ages 7-17 from various schools in the Cypress Park area of Los Angeles. Fifteen music teachers, including a conductor, have been providing free private instruction to the students with their individual instruments and teaching them the basics of reading music. They have been practicing five days a week for over a year and this upcoming performance marks their first public appearance.

The inaugural concert will be conducted by internationally-recognized conductor and composer, Cristian F. Grases, DMA. He is an Assistant Professor of the Department of Choral and Sacred Music at the University of Southern California and is the Conductor of the USC Thornton Concert Choir.

The Esperanza Azteca Orchestra Los Angeles is the first Esperanza Azteca youth orchestra to launch in the U.S. The Esperanza Azteca program seeks to enhance and improve the lives of children through music, helping them learn about discipline, teamwork and striving for excellence. The distinguished program was launched and is overseen by Grupo Salinas.
